On this day, one year ago, I joined team Golden Frog. The past year has gone by so unbelievably quickly. It feels like it was yesterday Sarah took me out for lunch at a local café (partially to welcome me to the team, and partially to avoid the arctic temperatures in the office). I’m lucky that while others seem to wish away their time, waiting for the day to end or the weekend to arrive, I’m left staring at the clock wondering where the day’s gone.
No two days are the same at Golden Frog. I get to visit clients, attend events, write content, manage social media, create press releases, manage websites, create marketing collateral, and do a myriad of weird and wonderful tasks in between. Public Relations can seem glamorous, but whether it’s cleaning out a horsebox for a filming day, trekking across hill and dale in ankle-deep mud to get the perfect photograph, or just writing endless end-of-month reports, there’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes. My job allows me a level of flexibility no other career could, for which I’m grateful.
On a cheesier note – I must say a huge thank you to everyone I’ve met so far in my Golden Frog journey. The journey wouldn’t have been nearly as amazing if both the in-house team, and extended network of businesses we work with, weren’t as truly lovely as they are. Not a day goes by where either a client or a colleague has me cry-laughing, and that’s something you can’t put a price on. The company has grown from strength-to-strength over the past year, and seeing the team expand and take on even more clients from all around the world has been incredible.
Since joining the team, my knowledge of niche manufacturing subjects has grown spectacularly (who knew there was polypropylene fibres in teabags?!) and I think my Mastermind specialised subject would now be recycled plastic furniture. I know I still have so much more to learn both in marketing and PR and in business in general. After all, I’m still a mere tadpole in the golden frog team.
